Description: NEWS PHOTO EMMMA BENNETT DEC 21-10 A Great Horned Owl perches in a tree in North East Crescent Heights on Tuesday afternoon. Hatter Nina Dickie, who lives on 8th Street N.E., called the News when she spotted the owl in a tree near her home. The birds are large and powerful and they are capable of handling a wide variety of prey, ranging in size from mice to skunks and geese, so staff at Police Point Park pointed out that Hatters should be aware to keep a close eye on their pets, like cats and small dogs, if an owl is spotted nearby.
